Due to supply issues, Apoquel Tablets are unavailable long term. The Apoquel Chewable Tablets are available as an alternative.
If your veterinarian has prescribed a dosage that requires cutting the tablet (in half or in quarters), please consider the following advice from the manufacturer, Zoetis:
Quartering Tablets:
Quartering tablets is considered extra-label use. Apoquel Tablets and Apoquel Chewable Tablets are scored to be halved to ensure that the ingredients are equally distributed. We cannot ensure accurate dosing when tablets are quartered. Always follow your vet’s advice.
Handling Chewable Tablets:
Apoquel Chewable Tablets may become crumbly, soft, and fall apart once cut and exposed to air and humidity. This does not necessarily mean the ingredient is inactive, but it may be harder to administer to your pet. To help avoid this issue, store the cut tablet in a sealed bottle.
In addition to this advice from Zoetis, our pharmacists recommend that you only cut the tablet that you need to avoid unnecessary exposure to air/moisture.
